I am Sherita Bradford-Davis, a professional braider; I specialize in box and knotless braids. I am known for the ability to grip extremely short hair. What sets me apart from others is that I am different, and I love to be different. I never wanted to be like others I have always wanted to stand out in my own unique way. I try to create a clean, respectful, and positive environment for my clients. It is my belief that the way you carry yourself in your environment reflects who you are. My goal is to satisfy every client, so they feel good about themselves, and return for their future braiding needs.
I've always done hair since I was a little girl. Becoming a Braider and a business owner have always been a dream of mine because I did not want to work for anyone else. I desired to become my own boss. When I first started this journey, I did not take it very seriously, it was just a way to make a few dollars. In 2012, I relocated to Raymond, MS from Belzoni, MS where I worked from job to job, doing 1 or 2 heads here and there. I was not very consistent at all.
In 2015, I lost both of my jobs and my primary source of income had come to an end which left me lost, confused, and I could not turn to anyone but God. I started attending church to get my life together and I accepted Christ as my Lord and Savior. During that time, I decided to step out on faith and trust God. As time passed, my hair business increased, and thankfully I was able to make ends meet. As I began to grow in Christ, I started tithing and could clearly see the work of God upon my life, both personally and professionally. I started working from home and in November 2015, a lady name Rashekia Nicole asked if I would be interested in working in her salon. Initially, I was nervous and scared, but I prayed about it, trusted God, and stepped out on faith.
I knew God had something in store for me and in January 2016, God blessed me to establish my own salon. From that day forward, I have been blessed with more clients than I can service. I always knew this was my gift and I love what I do. It makes me feel good to put a smile on my clients’ faces and make them feel beautiful. The work I do is not just a job, but it is a calling from God, and it is also my happy place. I am passionate about the work I do and, it shows in my work. God has given me the greatest gift of all and if it wasn't for him, I wouldn't be where I am today. So, I give God all the glory. The road has not been easy or smooth, but I trusted God and persevered. It took patience and consistency.
In this business, you must be able to interact with others and adjust to different personalities to be successful. My goal, as a businesswoman is to ensure each, and every client is satisfied with their services. It requires late nights, little to no rest, and perfecting your craft. I love all my clients, and it is a priority to make them feel welcome, and to share my testimony with them so they will know about the goodness of Jesus. This is not just a business, it is a ministry, too.
I thank God for change, growth and a better opportunity for a new life that he has given me. I will forever give Him the honor and glory!
